    My Education & Experience

Mariya completed her Bachelor of Social Work at Ryerson University and, subsequently, her Master’s Degree of Social Work at York University.

Mariya completed her graduate thesis and research on the influence and benefit of peer-led, community support groups on individuals diagnosed with highly stigmatized mental health labels such as Borderline Personality Disorder.

Mariya has focused her career in Social Work in providing clinical support to individuals living with mental health challenges, specializing in psychosis and personality disorders. With extended experience in crisis risk assessment and addressing chronic suicidality, Mariya continued to provide intensive case management and clinical counselling having expanded to working with individuals with high-risk addiction and substance misuse.

As her passion for supporting individuals living with internal and external dysregulation continued to grow, Mariya found herself drawn to supporting a community to which she, herself, belonged by working with individuals from the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

With nearly a decade of experience, Mariya has continued to expand her skills by completing certifications in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. In addition, she has continued to explore opportunities to further tailor her style by receiving training in Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, as well as Strengths-Based and Trauma-Informed approaches.
